***Update 02/04/2009***
To clear up some confusion, there are NO zips on any of the kits. Yes, the style of the shirts, which resemble cycling style shirts, may make it look like there should be a zip present, but there aren’t. If you see any supposed Chelsea shirts for next season that have a zip on it, it is a fake shirt.
******
After now having received descriptions of the new kits by those who have seen them first hand, I have an update to show how the kits will look like:
Home:
The home shirt is based on the ‘cycling top’ template. The blue remains what is now the standard Adidas ‘reflex’ blue for Chelsea home kits. There is no additional white adidas trimming. The shirt seems slim-fitting, which may be a problem for any more ample-sized fans wishing to wear a replica version.

Away:
Of the other two shirts, the following is presumably the away shirt as white is a traditional Chelsea away colour. The main feature of the away shirt is the set of black horizontal stripes. Again, it is based on the ‘cycling top’ style.

The away shirt is reminiscent of the 1984-85 away shirt, which was also predominantly white, but also had thin grey/black horizontal stripes.

Third:
The main feature of what is presumably the third shirt is the set of grey-blue and charcoal-black horizontal stripes, along with the Chelsea crest, logos and three striped all in the somewhat infamous ‘electric yellow’. The pattern of grey-blue and black horizontal stripes means the away kit will be completely different to the current away kit as it steps away from the traditional Chelsea away colours of yellow or white.

Good work but the away kit are that Reading.
January 19th, 2009 at 12:40 pm
They look a bit close-fitting for some of the lads! I’m not over-keen on the collar. Good work though.
January 19th, 2009 at 2:27 pm
Black is 2008-09 away kit with yellow as the third “CL” , so the example above could be the CL kit, with the away kit being white or yellow.
January 19th, 2009 at 2:38 pm
the sixth design is the most unusual one. I am sure it will look good on players. but will it be comfortable for play? I am not sure.
January 19th, 2009 at 5:05 pm
Reliable sources from Adidas said that the home shirt 09/10 will once again have collars. As for the away and 3rd shirts, it could be white and black respectively or vice versa.
January 19th, 2009 at 9:10 pm
Good work! I like the 1st and 5th ones, although it’s a shame there’s not a little more yellow on them, as per this year’s kit. The third one is an interesting idea, I definitely think Adidas will be exploring a squarer look similar to that in future kits. Probably a little too much white on that one for my liking though.
I don’t think the striped kit would be very Chelsea, as our kits tend to be quite plain, fairly unadventurous but classy.
January 20th, 2009 at 1:24 am
Great work! I like the 3rd one the best, but I think its the first one well be seeing in some months…
January 21st, 2009 at 11:12 am
it is a little bit shit
January 26th, 2009 at 7:30 pm
Like the first one. Al the rest are keek, especially the third one.
February 3rd, 2009 at 9:30 am
I Think All These Designs are fantastic…
i would buy them if they actually come out
February 4th, 2009 at 3:42 pm
Love the cycling top idea should be good to play in, for those who are more ample sized, adidas may decide to have a different shirt thats loose fitting like nike did with the england rugby union kit.:)
February 4th, 2009 at 3:44 pm
There was a brief view of it on Blues News a week or so ago. Thinking back, the cycling one which you claim to be the case does look extremely similar, though I’m pretty sure I did spot the three white stripes on it, at least on the shorts.
Adidas logo is back on the right I see instead of stuck in the middle(Where it should have been originally!!!)
February 4th, 2009 at 9:26 pm
I like the 3rd shirt. really nice.
February 5th, 2009 at 5:14 pm
dude i just brought a new cfc jersey
now again in 3 months i wud have to buy 1
February 6th, 2009 at 9:42 am
Bit of a problem – adidas have a long running charter which states that home shirts last for 2 seasons and the away ones for one.
Given that you changed your home shirt last summer, you won’t be changing it until the 2010/11 season so while these designs are very good, they’re not going to be seen for the start of next season.
February 6th, 2009 at 1:02 pm
Chelsea stated when the current home kit was released that it would only be for 1 year. Not to sure about the new designs, not a fan of tight fitting shirts! Pleased the adidas logo is no longer in the centre.
February 10th, 2009 at 4:54 pm
Love Them All, C’mon you Blues
February 11th, 2009 at 4:04 am
The home kit is absolute shite, I like the away, and the third is decent.
The template however is not one I’m overjoyed with to be honest with you.
We need to drop Adidas and go back to Umbro in my opinion.
February 12th, 2009 at 1:05 am
uuh, rubbish
February 14th, 2009 at 6:32 am
The home kit is pure shit. The away kit is decent. The home kit looks more like a jacket than a jersey.
February 15th, 2009 at 1:47 am
Love the away kit and 3rd kit!! Great job Chris.
February 20th, 2009 at 9:34 am
First one is quite strange. Don’t like it.
But Away is good.. Third one is the best really. Like it a lot
February 21st, 2009 at 11:22 am
what is the gk shirt like? i wont be buying these. why cant adidas just give chelsea another decent shirt rather than a stupid cycling-cross-rugby shirt? we are chelsea FOOTBALL club. i hope we get better ones and these were someones idea of a cruel joke on chelsea fans.
February 23rd, 2009 at 12:17 am
The home kit is horrid. I bloody well hope it has the white stripes on the sleeves as that’s adidas’ trademark. The away and 3rd are quite nice, but I still prefer our current 3. If adidas really does bring out that home kit I’m protesting that we should either go to Puma or Umbro.
February 23rd, 2009 at 8:53 pm
Are we trying to copy inter or what … I mean the third kit looks so much like inter’s home colours. And what’s wrong with adidas, were the designers having their head up their arse while designing these kits. We are talking about football here.. right … this whole design looks more like cycling top … and the third design looks so much like a rugby top. and what’s with the armour design on the chest, its yack. And god, that zipper looks so awful …. gives a feeling of metrosexual wear, someone like the diving twat ( no need to mention the name
) would love to wear when he ain’t playing … errr diving. The white one looks decent … but just the colour .. the blue one is pathetic … and the striped one looks so pseudo-inter. But overall the design and is pathetic. Adidas should be looking to sponser metrosexual footballers like totti and the Diver, if they want to promote this shit.
March 6th, 2009 at 6:59 pm
Everybody, is that a zipper???!
March 6th, 2009 at 7:04 pm
omg nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo why???! please give us a better looking shirt
March 9th, 2009 at 3:02 pm
the shirts are a joke ,, we are chelsea fc where has the pride gone
?? these shirts are mickey mouse ****** hate them
March 11th, 2009 at 7:22 am
It’s looks odd, what the hell…
It makes me don’t feel like buying it
March 14th, 2009 at 12:09 pm
The third kit looks fantastic
March 15th, 2009 at 5:25 pm
When will they come out???
March 17th, 2009 at 8:04 pm
To be honest, I think all 3 are smart looking kits. Something revolutionary about them in their design. I really think these kits are top class.
March 20th, 2009 at 2:43 pm
thats ugly ! i mean like really ugly !!!! its the worst shirt i ever seen i wouldn’t wear that even to work whith looks like a disgusting rugby training shirt they should Sack the adidas kit designer
March 21st, 2009 at 7:08 pm
the home kit is ok. away is a bit better and the third one is lush. id buy these shirts
March 24th, 2009 at 6:37 pm
WHEN WILL THEY COME OUT PEOPLE!!!
March 26th, 2009 at 4:33 pm
An interesting aside, the new Russia kit has been revealed, and it adopts the same style as next season’s Chelsea kits. A picture of it, showing what the kits will look like when worn, can be found here: http://www.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/9bc7f1ee29.jpg
March 27th, 2009 at 12:42 pm
I quite like it, although I’m not too sure about what appears to be a zip at the front. Didn’t ManUSA have a similar thing in ‘99?
Fingers crossed this will be the shirt for next year!
March 29th, 2009 at 11:52 am
they are all great hope they will be in use next season especially away kits.
April 1st, 2009 at 3:01 am
I think the thick padding on the upper chest would prove very uncomfortable while playing football; also i don’t like zip, it will irritate the players…and seems the shirt is going to be too tight and hot! Is the material nylon? A football shirt should be simple, loose and comfortable. this replicas would make best for casual wear by the fans; absolutely not for the players! I like the colours!
April 9th, 2009 at 9:34 am
(havnt read through comments so sorry if repeating)
nice designs although 2 things: adidas will most likely keep the current home jersey for another season. but if not, i doubt adidas will use the same template for all three designs, one away shirt could perhaps use the new spain/ukraine template.
April 9th, 2009 at 9:34 pm
i don’t like anyone… it’s like the new soccer/football’s jerseys generations are getting crazy about what to do with them… I think that adidas can do a much better job if they think what are they doing
April 9th, 2009 at 10:12 pm
cfcsam:
No, the current home shirt will not last another season. When they released the current set of shirts, the club said all shirts will last for one season and one season only, whilst citing that because most other clubs will be doing it anyway, its ok for them to do it too.
Also, all three shirts will have the same style – information coming from someone I know who has seen them first hand, as stated in the article.
April 11th, 2009 at 12:26 am
okayy cool, didn’t know that first bit, so yeah they look good anyway!
April 11th, 2009 at 9:37 am
does anyone no when they come out i really wanna no???
April 13th, 2009 at 7:03 pm
According to the manager of soccerscene oxford street the new home kit is schedueled for release on 14th May the away and 3rd no dates but staggered with one before start of season and just before europe cup games in september.

April 17th, 2009 at 9:30 am
i think the actual kits will be better than the mock ups
April 17th, 2009 at 11:30 am
Love all three shirts, especially the Away (white and grey).
They look like they will serve a practical purpose, less chance of our players being held on to or pulled down.
April 17th, 2009 at 7:07 pm
love the away and the third shirts the home shirt could be better ]:
April 17th, 2009 at 7:31 pm
These are absolutely hideous. Cycling? Really?
April 17th, 2009 at 9:23 pm

April 19th, 2009 at 11:23 pm
As long as the quality issue is sorted this year, I mean, the 08/09 shirt fabric pulled and snagged just looking at it!
Personally, the first adidas shirt was the best – wearing one right now in fact!
April 20th, 2009 at 11:31 am
I lyk the away the best!
It looks a bit tight on lampard!
Lol
April 20th, 2009 at 10:31 pm

April 21st, 2009 at 7:16 pm
the away gk kit is fluro green with dark navy. and the home is the same orange
April 22nd, 2009 at 11:35 pm
dominic, how do you know about the goalie kit? Is the home one definitely staying orange?? I’m not that bothered about the away one, to be honest, but all the same, it sounds interesting. Would love it if the home one was the same as this season, though!
April 23rd, 2009 at 2:57 pm
Im crazy in love with the away kit, must have it
April 23rd, 2009 at 5:20 pm
we r using this seasons yellow third kit for the FA Cup final. Sucks dunnit!
April 23rd, 2009 at 5:25 pm
The Home GK is Navy Blue/Flourescent Green, it is on the megastore itself to preorder and the Baby one has the colour’s on.
April 26th, 2009 at 9:32 pm

May 1st, 2009 at 3:00 pm
The last years ones were much better…. the home ones are very slim and they are kind of spacemen…. the away are really nice and the third are quite nice but they should of been yellow and black!!! Not as expected

May 5th, 2009 at 1:07 pm
I have. Had been expecting very similar styled shirts as the mocks suggest, but obviously using the same template as the home shirt. So the shirts those photos show are either fake, or updated versions from before, or there was possibly an oversight in the descriptions given to me. In any case, the styles are similar.
May 6th, 2009 at 6:54 pm
THISS KIT IS SHYYYYYTEEEEEEE ITS LIKE A BICICLE SUIT
May 8th, 2009 at 4:30 am
THe Away kits are OK especially the white, but the home kit is AWFUL………Have no fear guys, they couldn’t be seriously planning to get these sold.
May 8th, 2009 at 6:09 pm
I hate the collar on the new third shirt ( the one on fsc) but the colurs are good. too similar to home though. are we gettin another new keeper kit. away kit is class but i wish they would stop using these badges that are blended in. they look crap and no one else uses them!
May 8th, 2009 at 6:11 pm
i agree, the blended badges look awful and should be scrapped! i just hope adidas make some proper kits that are mixes of blue, black and white – proper colours!
May 20th, 2009 at 12:59 am
what ta heck dude ?! so ugly mannnnnn . woh !
May 20th, 2009 at 5:55 pm
love the panels. hope the away kit is the one here. wen does the training kit come out
May 22nd, 2009 at 1:17 am
dont enjoy the badges but they may have been designed to avoid nipple chaffing, as old sewed badges can cause. Am enjoying the teams taking a old shirt style and modernising them with new technological materials. Especially evertons, awesome kit!
May 22nd, 2009 at 3:55 am
YUCK!! Why do they have man-tit plates??? Nice gay collar and ridiculous moob plates (moob=man-boob)

June 14th, 2009 at 2:27 pm

June 29th, 2009 at 9:44 pm
Seriously the kits are awesome the home isnt that good
July 8th, 2009 at 5:50 pm
the home kit really sucks balls… it does not even resemble a football jersey. plus the 3rd kit is the same as the one inter used a few years ago in europe, not only bad taste, not even original, it looks like pjs
